Weekend in Mt. Baker-Snoqalmie National Forest

September 6, 2020

Duration: 2 days
Mileage: 120
Starting point: Seattle, WA
States: WA
Budget for 2 people: $118 ($38 camp, $30 gas, $50 food, we had our $80 NP annual pass that we purchased earlier this year)

  • Day 1: drive to Gold Basin Campground located in Mt. Baker-Snoqalmie National Forest, Washington (60 mi); hike Lake 22 trail
  • Day 2: relax at the campground, drive back home

This was our last camping trip in 2020. Since this was one of the closest spots to our home this time we decided to spend only 1 night in the campground. We arrived on Saturday around 2 pm when check-in starts and went hiking immediately. This time we chose one of the most popular trails in the area - Lake 22. It's a 6-mile moderate trail with a beautiful lake at the end. We enjoyed our way up and beautiful views, however, it was a little crowded next to the lake with people having picnics, playing loud music, and flying drones - a price to pay for an easier accessible location.
