Road to Ella

As all travel blogs advertise, train road from Kandy to Ella is one of the most beautiful in the world and is the must to see in Sri Lanka. Knowing this fact we woke up really early and went to the train station to catch the first train. If you plan this trip in advance you can reserve a seat, however, we could only buy second or third class tickets with no seat reservation. Little we knew that it's almost impossible to get on a train without a reserved seat. This train goes from Colombo and arrives to Kandy completely packed with people hanging from the doors. There is another advice on multiple blogs recommending to go by tuk-tuk to an earlier station on the train's route. We tried doing that as well, however, the story repeated itself. We decided to look for another way of getting to Ella and found a group of other tourists in the same situation to share a taxi with. It took approximately 7 hours to get to Ella on those narrow curvy roads.
